Week 17 recap... whoops a back up QB just threw another TD pass...

So the Lions lose again in Green Bay (21 years and counting), I know the Lions are already in the playoffs so they didnt technically "need" a win.  Being the 5 seed instead of the 6 would have made a huge difference I think.  We will get to that in a bit, but first what the eff happened on Sunday?

I can understand giving up so many points if a high school team was playing Baylor, or even if the Lions played their second string defense.  But no, the clowns that were out their missing tackles, blowing pass coverage assignments, and getting penalized what seemed like every play were the best of the bunch and will play this weekend in the playoffs.  I am not sure if I have ever seen a worse group of secondary players, except for when the Lions outdid themselves and went 0-16.

It wasnt even that Matt Flynn picked on the weakest link, nope he evenly dispersed the embarrassment to everyone.  Chris Houston consistently gets burned deep, Eric Wright cant make an open field tackle vs a pee wee football player with a broken leg, that so called back up (9th string) safety looks doesnt know if he should double team someone in zone coverage or if he should just try closing his eyes and hoping for the best.  What a joke.  And these guys get paid to look that bad?  Yikes.

How frustrated must Matt Stafford and the offense be?  He leads the Lions to 41 points, goes over 5,000 yards for the season and still gets beat?  What else does he need to do?

Stafford again looked healthy and confident in the pocket, it could be because he knew Clay Matthews wasnt coming to rip his head off, or that Charles Woodson wasnt locking down Calvin.  But it is exciting to think what he can do in a dome this weekend.

I know the refs were absolutely terrible on Sunday, and again some of the rules are called into question, but still scoring 41 points in an NFL game should be enough to win any game.

I would have to imagine Drew Brees watchng tape and becoming very excited that he gets to play against the Lions' joke of a secondary instead of the Falcons for a 3rd time.  Brees might get to 6,000 yards for the season after he gets done with us.  At this point, Brees could have his worst game of the season on Saturday night and still pass for 300 yards and 4 tds against Detroit.  That is encouraging.

I will preview the first Lions playoff game in 13 years later this week. It might be first to 60 (I think we will be looking for some more secondary players in the offseason).
